What We’re Fundraising For – Supporting Opportunities Through Our Dairy
Our upcoming Easter Family Fun Day at Gullivers Farm is not only a chance for families and the community to spend time on the farm, it is also an important opportunity to support the development of the work that takes place here every day.
This year we are raising funds towards a new milk pasteuriser for our dairy, a piece of equipment that will allow us to process more of the biodynamic milk produced by our Shorthorn cows here on the farm.
While this may sound like a simple upgrade to farm equipment, it plays a much bigger role in the opportunities we are able to create for the people involved in our social enterprise.
A Dairy That Creates Real Opportunities
At Gullivers Enterprises, the dairy is more than just producing milk. It is a place where adults with varying support needs are involved in meaningful, hands-on work alongside the farm team.
From helping care for the cows, to learning about the milking process, preparing milk for the farm shop, and understanding how food moves from land to community, the dairy creates real experiences that build skills and confidence.
These are not simulated activities. They are part of a real working farm where every task has a purpose.
Being part of this work helps individuals develop routine, responsibility and practical skills, while also building confidence in their own ability and contribution.

Developing Skills Through ASDAN Training
Alongside the daily work on the farm, Gullivers Enterprises also runs an ASDAN pathway, which supports individuals to develop skills and gain recognised achievements through practical learning.
The ASDAN programme allows the work people take part in across the farm, kitchen, farm shop and market garden to become part of a structured learning journey.
Within the dairy, this can include learning about:
Animal care and welfare
Hygiene and food preparation processes
Safe working practices on a farm
Understanding how milk is processed and sold
Teamwork and responsibility within a working environment
By linking practical work with learning outcomes, the ASDAN pathway helps people develop confidence, independence and pride in their work.
Many individuals who come to Gullivers begin by learning small tasks and gradually grow into more responsibility as their skills develop.
Why a New Pasteuriser Matters
As demand for our milk grows through the farm shop and wider community, our current pasteurising equipment is becoming a limiting factor in how much milk we are able to process.
A new pasteuriser will allow us to increase capacity and improve efficiency, but more importantly it will strengthen the training environment for the people involved in the dairy.
With upgraded equipment we will be able to:
Process more of the milk produced on the farm
Improve the workflow between milking and the farm shop
Provide more structured training opportunities
Expand the number of individuals able to be involved in dairy work
In simple terms, it helps us grow the opportunities that the dairy creates for people.
A Community Supporting the Work
Events like the Easter Family Fun Day play a really important role in helping projects like this move forward.
By bringing the community onto the farm, people can see first-hand the environment where the work takes place and the impact it has.
Every family who visits, every meal shared, and every conversation on the farm contributes to the wider support that allows these opportunities to continue developing.
The farm becomes a place where the community and the social enterprise grow together.
Join Us on the Farm
We hope many of you will join us on Saturday 4 April from 11am–3pm for the Easter Family Fun Day.
It will be a relaxed afternoon with tractor rides, live music, food, space for children to explore and time to simply enjoy being on the farm.
Alongside the activities, we will also be sharing more about the dairy and the pasteuriser project, and how the community can help support the next step in its development.
Most importantly, it is a chance to celebrate the work taking place here at Gullivers and the people who are part of it every day.
