A Community Day on the Farm

On Saturday 25 April, we will be opening the gates at Sturts Farm for a relaxed Open Farm Family Fun Day, inviting the local community to spend an afternoon enjoying the farm, the animals and the space around us.

This event is about bringing people together. Families, neighbours, friends and supporters of the farm are all welcome to come along, explore the farmyard and enjoy a few simple things that make time on a farm special.

From children climbing onto the tractor trailer for a ride, to people meeting the animals or sitting with some food while listening to live music, the afternoon is designed to feel easy-going, welcoming and full of community spirit.

Supporting Our Dairy Project

The day will also help support an important development for the farm — raising funds towards a new pasteuriser for our dairy.

Our small milking team works hard every day caring for our Shorthorn cows and producing biodynamic milk that is sold through the farm shop. The dairy is not just about producing milk; it provides meaningful work and learning opportunities for adults with varying support needs, who are involved in caring for the animals and helping prepare the milk for sale.

Upgrading our pasteuriser will allow us to continue developing this work safely and sustainably while meeting the growing demand for milk from the farm.

By simply coming along to the event, spending time on the farm and supporting the food stalls or market stall, visitors are helping us move this project forward and supporting the opportunities we are creating for those involved in the social enterprise.

What to Expect on the Day

There will be plenty happening across the farmyard throughout the afternoon, including:

Tractor rides around the farm
Animals to see and meet
Live music creating a relaxed atmosphere
BBQ farm food cooked and served on site
Craft activities and family fun
Gullivers Market Stall, where we will be selling fresh organic meat reared here on the farm

The market stall is a chance for visitors to see and purchase food produced directly from the land and animals cared for here at Sturts Farm.

A Simple Afternoon on the Farm

The aim of the afternoon is simple: create a space where people can slow down, enjoy the farm and spend time together as a community.

Whether you stay for a tractor ride, come to see the animals with the children, enjoy some food or simply take a walk around the farmyard, everyone is welcome.
