A New Menu, A Familiar Purpose

More Than Just Food

If you've visited Gullivers recently, you'll have seen our new menu beginning to take shape. New seasonal salads, handmade quiches, deli classics, comforting brunch dishes and fresh food prepared using ingredients from our farm and local suppliers all reflect what we love most about food: bringing people together around something made with care.

But behind every dish on the menu is something far more important than the ingredients themselves.

At Gullivers, food is one of the ways we create meaningful opportunities for the people we support. The kitchen isn't simply a place where meals are prepared. It's a place where confidence grows, skills develop and people discover strengths they may never have known they had.

Mike's Quiches

Learning Through Doing

One of the things we are most excited about is seeing people take on new responsibilities and grow in confidence within the kitchen.

Mike is now making our quiches from start to finish. From preparing ingredients and following recipes to creating the finished product that appears in the deli counter, he is developing real vocational skills whilst taking pride in producing something that our customers genuinely enjoy.

He's also beginning to learn how to make our sausage rolls, building on the skills he has already developed and taking another step forward in his journey.

When customers see a quiche on the counter, they see a delicious lunch option. What we see is something much bigger. We see somebody learning, practising, growing in confidence and experiencing the satisfaction that comes from creating something with value and purpose.

Why We Don't Rush

In a world that often feels like it's moving faster every day, we've chosen a slightly different approach.

We believe there is real value in creating an environment where people feel calm, supported and able to learn at their own pace. We believe there is value in taking time to develop skills properly, and we believe there is something special about food that is prepared with care rather than rushed through a process.

For many of the people we support, routine and repetition play an important part in developing confidence and independence. The opportunity to practise a task regularly, become familiar with a process and gradually take on more responsibility can make an enormous difference.

What may look like making the same recipe again and again is often where the greatest learning takes place. Through those routines, people build confidence, accuracy and pride in their work, eventually reaching a point where they can produce high-quality food that customers return for time and time again.

Fresh Food Takes Time

Much of the food served at Gullivers is prepared fresh each day.

Our chefs work alongside the people we support, sharing skills, encouraging independence and helping create food that reflects the values of Gullivers. We could make things quicker by relying heavily on pre-prepared products, but that would mean losing many of the opportunities that make this place so special.

Occasionally, that does mean your meal may take a little longer to arrive than it would elsewhere.

We understand that waiting isn't always convenient, but we hope our customers know that those extra few minutes are helping create a kitchen where learning can happen naturally, where people are supported to succeed and where quality is never sacrificed for speed.

There's a certain warmth that comes from knowing your lunch has been freshly prepared by a team that genuinely cares about what they do. It's food made with patience, pride and attention to detail, and we think you can taste the difference.

Supporting Something Bigger

Every coffee purchased, every sausage roll enjoyed and every lunch shared at Gullivers helps support the wider work of our charity and social enterprise.

Your support helps create meaningful vocational opportunities. It helps people learn new skills, gain confidence and contribute to a real working environment. It helps us invest in the future of Gullivers and continue building opportunities where people can develop, belong and thrive.

When you visit Gullivers, you're not simply supporting a café or a farm shop. You're becoming part of a community that believes everybody has something valuable to contribute and that given the right environment, support and opportunity, people can achieve remarkable things.

Thank You

We are incredibly grateful for the support we receive from our customers and wider community.

Thank you for choosing local food. Thank you for supporting local people. And thank you for understanding that sometimes the things worth doing well take a little more time.

Because behind every quiche, every sausage roll and every freshly prepared meal is a story of learning, growth and opportunity. And that's the ingredient we're most proud to serve.
